What is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to address visible signs of aging in the neck and jawline. Over time, the skin and underlying muscles in this area lose elasticity, and fat can accumulate beneath the chin, leading to jowling, fullness, or a “turkey neck” appearance. A neck lift works by:
- Tightening the platysma (neck) muscles to improve structure
- Removing or repositioning excess fat for smoother contouring
- Trimming and redraping loose or sagging skin
Incisions are hidden behind the ears and may extend beneath the chin for optimal access and concealment. This allows for strategic tightening and reshaping while minimizing visible scarring.
