What is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift is a minor surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose, known as the “philtrum.” By elevating the upper lip, this technique exposes more of the pink lip tissue (the vermilion), giving the appearance of a fuller, more youthful mouth, without adding volume through injectable fillers.
The most common type of lip lift is the “bullhorn” lift, named for the shape of the incision hidden discreetly at the base of the nose. Your surgeon removes a small strip of skin and lifts the lip to its new, elevated position through this well-concealed incision. The result is a more defined cupid’s bow, better balance between the nose and mouth, and an overall more refreshed appearance.
Unlike temporary treatments, the results of a lip lift are permanent. It’s an ideal option for patients who want to enhance their smile or facial proportions while avoiding the plumped or overfilled look sometimes associated with nonsurgical alternatives.
