Why Did You Decide to Become a Doctor?

I watched MASH with my parents every night and the seed was planted. Later I watched as Plastic Surgeons performed the most complex and life changing procedures in the hospital while at Penn State and I had to become one.

How Do You Stay Current With Medical Advancements?

Each year I take the new and updated In-Service exam. This exam is the same required by new plastic surgeons to graduate from training programs. I attend national meetings for the american society of plastic surgeons and the aesthetic society. I also attend special courses for new techniques, in the last year I attended a course for Preserve and a course for deep plane face lifts and rhinoplasty.

What Is Your Philosophy of Patient Care?

I protect and care for each patient like I am in their shoes. At this mid-point in my career, I am only interested in great outcomes…This means I place a little more time and effort into each procedure, I am an advocate for my patients, and sometimes this means telling my patient that they should do nothing.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Work?

Our patients are on a self-improvement journey. We often experience this with them – the excitement, the joy of positive changes, the feelings of accomplishment along their journey. It is meaningful and invigorating to me.

What Are Your Interests Outside of Medicine?

Rosie and my two girls, mountain biking, backcountry snowmobiling, scuba, travel, and a few pull-ups.
